Your Pilot

The first time I ever had a paraglider above me was in the autumn of 1989. At paragliding school I practiced starting and landing on an inclined slope until I could perfect them both. Soon afterwards, I could already fly for a short distance and finally on February 24, 1990, I experienced my first solo paragliding flight from Obhus to Seevlen (Stockhorn). The distance in altitude from take-off to landing was 1500m (4,921ft.), and my first flight lasted a total of exactly 10 minutes. At that point in time, tandem paragliders didn’t even exist yet, and as a result, you had to fly solo through the air. Flying, what an incredible experience!

After passing my theory exam, I was able to do my solo paragliding exam, which consisted of 2 flights, which I successfully completed on May 13, 1990. The entry in my flight diary that day read: here we go!!!!

And that is precisely what happened. I spent every spare moment I had paragliding. At that time, paragliding equipment was also advancing, materials were improving and consequently, pilots could soar faster and longer through the air. I tested numerous paragliders and clocked hundreds of kilometers doing so.

Soon thereafter, the first tandem paragliders made their way into the paragliding scene and on January 20, 1996, I passed my tandem paragliding B exam, which was shortly followed by my tandem paragliding A exam, which I completed on October 12, 1996.

I was thrilled to receive my tandem paragliding license because it meant that I could finally share the indescribable sensation of flying through the air with others. It’s a great feeling to share such an experience with other passengers and witness their excitement and enjoyment while flying and even once we’ve landed. Since receiving my tandem paragliding license, well over 3,000 passengers from all over the world have flown with me.

Fly like an eagle! When are you coming?
